AI, We Were Early. Here’s What It Taught Us.

Every few years, marketing has a moment where the ground moves. Most companies notice it about two years late, usually when the numbers start slipping and they can’t figure out why.

AI search is that moment. And at Boken, we didn’t wait for it to become a headline.

We started before it had a name

Long before “AEO” showed up in marketing newsletters, we were already in the work. Our early projects with Nestor and Avenlee Care were exactly that: early. We were learning how these models think. Training them. Testing what they picked up, what they ignored, and what made them recommend one business over another.

It wasn’t polished. It was a lot of trial, a lot of error, and a lot of late nights asking “why did it say that?” But that’s the season where real expertise gets built. You can’t learn a new game by reading about it. You learn it by playing before anyone hands you the rulebook.

What being early taught us

Here’s what we learned that most agencies are only now catching up on.

AI rewards clarity. These models are trying to give one confident answer. If they can’t tell in a sentence what you do and who you do it for, they move on. Vague brands get skipped.

AI trusts agreement. The models look at your site, your listings, your reviews, and what others say about you. When all of it tells the same story, you become a safe answer. When it doesn’t, you’re a risk.

Questions beat keywords. People don’t talk to AI the way they typed into Google. They ask full questions. The businesses that answer those questions clearly, in plain language, are the ones that get pulled into the answer.

Fast content isn’t the same as good content. AI can crank out a hundred blog posts by lunch. Most of it sounds the same, and both people and machines are learning to tune it out. The content that wins still has a point of view and a real person behind it.

Why that matters to you

When you work with Boken, you don’t pay for our learning curve. We already paid it.

We’ve seen what works and what wastes money. We know where to look first, what to fix first, and what to leave alone. That means less experimenting on your dime and faster movement toward the thing you actually care about: being the name that shows up when your customer asks.

I’ll be honest about one more thing. This space is still moving. The tools change monthly. Anyone who tells you they have AEO completely figured out is selling something. What we have is a head start, a tested process, and the habit of learning fast. In a market changing this quickly, that’s the advantage.

Let’s look at your starting line

We’re offering a free AEO audit. We’ll show you how AI answer engines see your business today, where competitors are getting named instead of you, and the first moves we’d make to change that. Then we’ll talk through how to strengthen your positioning so the machines and the people both know exactly who you are.

You don’t have to be first. But you really don’t want to be last.
